Some Estimators of Parameters from a Selected Population.

Abstract

Suppose one has a set of populations (Pi sub j), each characterized by an unknown parameter (theta sub j), j=1,...,J. A random sample is taken from each population and on the basis of the sample one of the populations is selected as being best in some sense. The subject of the paper is the estimation of a given function of the parameter of the selected population when the estimator is based on the data used in the selection of the chosen population.
