Scaled Photogrammetric Research.

Abstract

After a critical discussion of the methods of lunar measure which have been developed in the past, an account of the new approach to the problem which was initiated by the Astronomy Department of the University of Manchester with the introduction of star-calibrated lunar photography is given. A description of the computer programs which have been developed for the preparation of the observations and evaluation of the plates is also included. An analysis is presented of the geometrical and dynamical principles on which the various selenographic systems of reference are based, and relations connecting them are found. (Author)
