Compatibility and Stability Testing of Explosives and Solid Propellants

Abstract

The paper is confined to considerations of compatibility and stability problems encountered in the design and development of weapon systems containing explosives and solid propellants. The primary objectives of compatibility and stability testing are to ensure safety during storage and reliability in service, by assessing the chemical and thermal stability of explosive and propellant compositions, and by determining whether these properties are adversely affected by any of the materials used near or in contact with them.
