The Underpressure Field from Explosions in Water as Modified by Cavitation

Abstract

Existing bulk cavitation theory has been used to map the extent of the caviatated region caused by an underwater explosion and to calculate the underpressure level of the surface reflected shock wave as modified by cavitation. The calculation of the cavitation boundaries has not been verified experimentally. The calculated values of the underpressures compare well with experimental values.
