Aircraft Icing Climatology for the Northern Hemisphere

Abstract

The report is an update of the methodology used within the Air Weather Service to determine the climatological probability of aircraft icing throughout the Northern Hemisphere. It presents isopleth charts of the 1000-, 850-, 700-, and 500-mb surfaces for each of the twelve months. A station listing and locator chart gives the extensive areal coverage of the data used in the computerized calculations.
