An Interferometric Determination of the Specific Refractivities of the Nitrogen and Oxygen Atoms.

Abstract

The specific refractivities (Gladstone-Dale constants) for nitrogen and oxygen atoms were determined experimentally using dual-frequency laser interferometry. The data were obtained in a hypersonic shock-tube facility using a Mach-Zehnder interferometer.
