Research on Word Spotting.

Abstract

The report summarizes research performed under the contract. The general objective of this work is to find programmable procedures for automatic speech recognition, in particular for the detection of any specified word in continuous speech. Further development of the primary recognition program, which performs a sample-by-sample analysis of speech spectra, is described. The application of statistical methods to vowel identification and to the specification of talker characteristics is discussed. Control of the Glace-Holmes synthesizer by computer has been used to perform perceptual experiments. Future directions are outlined. (Author)
