Preparation of Some Polynitrophenyl Acetates.

Abstract

A series of polynitrophenyl acetates have been prepared by reacting the parent phenol with acetic anhydride in carbon tetrochloride solution. Addition of pyridine catalysed most of the reactions, but pyridine salts were obtained from the trinitrophenols. Considerable variation in rates of the uncatalysed reactions has been observed.
