Dissipation of Kinetic and Thermal Energy in the Mixed Surface Layer of the Ocean (The Barbados Oceanographic and Meteorological Experiment).

Abstract

Measurements were made of the average and fluctuating components of the horizontal longitudinal velocity component at depths of 9 and 17 meters and of the average and fluctuating components of the temperature at a depth of 17 meters. The measurements were made using ducted-impeller current meters and a quartz crystal thermometer probe mounted on a spar buoy which was tethered to the stern of the R/V GILLIS. (Author)
