Transition-Metal and Carborane Derivatives Obtained from B18H22.

Abstract

Reaction of n- or i-B18H20(2-) with a variety of phosphine and carbonyl substituted complexes of cobalt, rhodium, nickel, palladium and platinum produced new metal-borane complexes of the general type, (B18H20)Metal(ligand)n. Cyclohexyl isocyanide reacts with i-B18H22 to form the carborane, B18H20CNH2C6H11. A nonpolar complex B18H20 (pyridine)2 has been obtained by the reaction of pyridine with n-B18H22. (Author)
