Predicting Epiphytotics of Grain Rust (Problema Prognoza Rzhavchiny Khlebnykh Zlakov),

Abstract

Despite the advances made in general agricultural practices and the widespread introduction of rust resistant crop varieties, epiphytotics continue to occur in various countries, including the Soviet Union. There, as described in this report, it is very important to anticipate epiphytotics and the extent of harvest losses, as well as the period of infection. Long range forecasts make it possible to carry out broad preventive measures and thus prevent outbreaks of the disease or reduce its destructiveness. (Author)
