Further Studies of Dynamic and Biaxial Loading of Rock.

Abstract

Results are presented from a number of tests to determine the influence of rate of loading, as characterized by the strain rate, on the stress-strain and strength properties of Solenhofen limestone and Westerly granite in triaxial compression tests, and the influence of biaxial compressive loading with various stress paths on the properties of low porosity granite and a high porosity tuff. All three principal stresses and principal strains were measured in all of the tests. (Author)
