Quality Requirements for Motor Vehicle Tires and Technological Effectiveness in Tire Design (Trebovaniya k Kachestvu Automobilnykh Shin i Technologichnost ikh Konstruktsil),

Abstract

Increased dependence on automotive transport has necessitated the manufacture of improved tires for trucks and buses. Improvement is necessary for load-carrying capacity, maximum speed permissible, lower rate of wear, lighter weight, and improved balance. Radial tires have proven superior to bias ply tires, but have presented more difficult production problems. Currently, the components of the 260X508R radial tire have been reduced from 59 to 43 parts, and further component reduction is underway. (Author)
