Development and Application of Analytical Models for Chemical Lasers.

Abstract

The objective of this effort is to apply existing flowfield models, (including combustion, mixing, and nonequilibrium chemistry) which have already been substantially verified in rocket applications, to the CW chemical laser. Modifications will be made to the programs so that the laser radiation effects can be coupled with the flow field. Parameters and geometry will be varied within the capability of the models in order to optimize the flow regimes for the chemical laser. In addition, analyses will be performed on the flow fields of existing lasers to define optimum operating conditions and interpret experimental results.
