Research and Development of a High Temperature Capacitance Strain Gage for Operation at 2000 F

Abstract

The report describes the research and development of a high temperature capacitance strain gage. The investigation consisted of a materials, configuration, and attachemtn study; a cable evaluation; and a manufacturing and evaluation phase. The final configuration was a rhombic strain frame with a capacitor element composed of Inconel plates and mica dielectric insulators. The overgage length was 1/2 inch.
