Macroinhomogeneity in the Composition of Ingots,

Abstract

The document is a translation of Chapter 5 of the book entitled 'Ingots of Titanium Alloys'. The chapter discusses the difficulties in obtaining uniform chemical composition throughout the volume of titanium alloy ingots due to inhomogeneity of the electrode, the limited volume of the liquid bath, changes in concentration of alloying components, and due to crystallization of the metal during the process.
