Heat Transfer in Non-Newtonian Fluid Flows,

Abstract

Various equations are presented which show relationships between stress and the displacement velocity for non-Newtonian fluid flows. The equation that shows the velocity profiles for a laminar hydrodynamically stable flow gives the results of a heat transfer study which used the integral heat balance method to study the flow of anomolous fluids obeying the rheological power law at considerable distance from the entry to the tube. The authors have shown that for various values the temperature curves hardly differ from each other, even if the velocity profiles differ considerable. Clearly, such results hold only in the case when friction heat is not taken into account. (Author)
