Montana Large Aperture Seismic Array

Abstract

The technical activity associated with the operation, maintenance, and improvement of the Montana Large Aperture Seismic Array (LASA) during the period 1 March - 31 May 1972 is related in this report. The short-period (SP) and long-period (LP) seismograph sensitivity performance statistics are indicated. Performance data on the SP seismometer and the SP and LP seismic amplifiers are presented. A new method of seismograph calibration using pseudo- random binary sequences (PRBS) and the development of a PDP-7 program to provide an LP PRBS input to the LP seismograph are described. Removal dates for the array's microbarograph sensors are given. Statistics relating to the operation and maintenance of the array and data center equipment and land facilities support ar provided.
