Loading, Strength and Safety Analysis of a Single Point Mooring Line.

Abstract

The probability of failure of a single point mooring line is constructed. The cases of fracture, fatigue failure, sensor cable fracture, anchor lifting and instrument inclination are dealt with. The specification of loading for such a design approach is considered, especially the use of extreme and long term wave height statistics. The strength with respect to short term fracture, creep fracture, aging and fatigue are included and their incorporation into the probabilistic scheme completed. The absence of complete statistics motivates the recommendation of a design procedure. (Author)
