Fabrication and Installation of Prototype Protective Barrier System

Abstract

This report describes Phase II of a two- phase research program to develop an optimized prefabricated protective barrier system for munition storage magazines. The Phase II program included the fabrication of the necessary rigid foam configurations, plus a full scale field demonstration installation of this complete system in a storage magazine at NAD Earle, New Jersey. A DISCUSSION OF THE FABRICATION AND PACKAGING OF THE FOAM PIECES PLUS A REVIEW OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE WALLS AND SAND ADDITION AT THE SITE ARE REPORTED. Comparative economics for this system relative to the current sandbags are included. (Author, modified-PL)
