Some Methods of Increasing the Stability of Rotors with Gas Bearings,

Abstract

On the basis of performed investigations and an analysis of the published data, the following areas of application of gas bearings are recommended: circular bearings can be used in small heat-stressed machines with a reserve of compressed gas and peripheral speeds on the bearing journal of not more than 80 m/sec; bearings with differential pressurization and multi-centric bearings can be used in low-power heat-stabilized machines with decreased pressurization pressures and peripheral speeds on the bearing journal of not more than 90 m/sec; bearings with self-adjusting bushings can be used in medium- and high-power heat-stressed machines at peripheral speeds on the bearing journal up to 80 m/sec.
