Survey of Studies of Atmospheric Transmission from a 4 Pi Light Source to a 2 Pi Receiver.

Abstract

The survey report attempts to point out the progress and insufficiencies in the assessment and prediction of atmospheric effects on thermal radiation from a nuclear detonation in the troposphere to a target at the ground. The approach consists of a summarization of the major findings of investigators during the past two decades that relate the thermal transmission from an effective point light source in the troposphere to a flat plate or 2 pi steradian receiver at the ground.
