Note on an Approximate Method for Computing Consistent Conjugate Stresses in Elastic Finite Elements.

Abstract

An approximate procedure for implementing the idea of consistent conjugate stresses in an efficient way is described. Examples are given which show that the approximate consistent stresses are in very close agreement with the usual consistent stress distribution and both provide good approximations to exact stresses.
