Low Temperature Magnetic and Thermal Properties NiSnCl6:6H2O.

Abstract

The authors have employed several different techniques to study the nature of the ground state of the Ni(++) ion in NiSnCl6:6H2O and possible interaction among such ions. These are measurements of powder and single crystal magnetic susceptibilities between 0.35 and 4.2K; magnetization between 1.35 and 4.2K, and heat capacity of powder and single crystal specimens between 0.35 and 4.2K. In addition, some exploratory magnetocaloric measurements were performed on a single crystal speciment at temperatures below approximately 0.5K. The results and their interpretations are presented.
