Properties of Alloys of Zirconium and Niobium Carbides in Their Homogeneity Domain,

Abstract

A study was made of specific electrical resistivity, thermal emf, the Hall coefficient, magnetic susceptibility, and also the temperature dependence of specific electrical resistivity and thermal emf (at 50 to 1000C) of binary solid solutions of the carbides of zirconium and niobium in their homogeneity domain. Extremel values of these properties are observed for an equimolar composition, which indicates the predominant role of the Zirconium-Niobium bond in the total bond energy when solid solutions are formed.
