Simulation of Stochastic Input - Part I.

Abstract

The use of autoregressive processes was investigated by personnel in the Research Directorate, Weapons Laboratory of Rock Island, to generate simulated microterrain input or roughness for digital vehicle models. Linear autoregressive equations of different orders were fitted to terrain elevation data from sixteen grids at eight Army posts. The minimum order of process was selected on the basis of both residual autocorrelations and residual spectra. Either fourth or fifth order processes are required to represent the terrain samples that were analyzed. (Author)
