Wheel Travel and its Effects on Mobility.

Abstract

The purpose of this report was to attempt to consolidate data from several sources in an effort to isolate the contribution of wheel travel to overall vehicle mobility. Some definitive results are described but the overriding conclusion is that wheel travel is an intertwined, indivisible vehicle characteristic. Additionally, it must be accompanied by other properly matched vehicle attribubutes such as wheel base, spring rate and damping rate. Data from several vehicle comparative and performance tests are included and utilized in the evaluation. (Author)
