Development of Flame-Heated Thermionic Diodes.

Abstract

The report summarizes the work performed by Thermo Electron Corporation to develop a gasoline-fired thermionic power supply. The work is divided into three phases: (1) The development of a gasoline burner capable of providing the high temperature and high heat fluxes required by the thermionic converters. (2) The development of a thermionic converter with the required power output, efficiency, weight and life. (3) The design of a power supply using the above two components and including power conditioning, controls and packaging. (Author)
