Experimental Cartographic Facility Software Improvement.
Abstract
The report describes changes made to software at the RADC Experimental Cartographic Facility on the PDP-9 Cartographic Digitizing Plotter System. Many deficiencies in existing software were corrected, and new software was written to install two new functions. First, a new technique to join together feature segments into a single feature under one header was developed and implemented. Second, a grid imdexing system was created to allow individual features within a data file to be located more quickly. Several ideas for advancing the state-of-the-art in automated cartographic feature editing are put forth, and recommendations for future software development are discussed. (Author)
