Information Processing Models and Computer Aids for Human Performance. Task 2. Human-Computer Interaction Models

Abstract

A measuring system was implemented to obtain the statistical parameters necessary to specify a queueing theory model of the dynamic behavior of a state-of-the-art time-shared computer system; results are presented on the statistics of usage of one such computer system. A methodology is presented for the performance of experiments involving human users and for the interpretation of their results. It is expected that these results will yield predictive models for the overall efficiency of the 'users-computer system' under various circumstances.
