A Low Interaction Tension (or Compression)-Torsion Load Cell.

Abstract

A load cell for combined axial load and torque having good sensitivity and repeatability and low cross talk is described. The instrument consists of a maraging steel tube with gimbal mounted direct-current differential-transformers to sense the axial deflection and twist of the tube. Free-Flex pivots were used in the gimbals to minimize friction. (Author)
