Obsolescence Loss Rate

Abstract

The purpose of the report is to review a method of calculating the obsolescence loss rate prescribed in DODI 4140.39. The report is divided into three areas of study. The first area discusses the theoretical foundations of the present and proposed obsolescence loss rates. The second area studies the proposed formulation in relation to the data available. The third analyzes the obsolescence loss rate's effect upon both constrained and unconstrained Navy inventory control procedures.
