Dislocation Scattering in Teflon at Low Temperatures. Optical and Magnetic Properties of Some Transition Metal Ions in Lithium Phosphate Glass.

Abstract

The thermal conductivity of a sample of Teflon was measured in the temperature range 0.17 to 4.0K. A good fit to these data was obtained by using dislocation scattering of phonons and a Debye omega squared frequency distribution. The optical and magnetic behavior of chromium and manganese ions doped into Li3PO4 glass is studied, as well as other transition metal ions. (Author)
