Thirteen Critical Points in Contemporary Economic Theory, and Descriptive, Predictive and Normative Theory.
Abstract
The first paper is an immanent criticism of many of the major ideas of economic theory. Included in the discussion are: Revealed preference; Pareto optimality; Indifference curve analysis; Functional and size distribution of income. The second paper also discusses scientific method and theory in its descriptive, predictive, and normative form. It is pointed out that many normative theories follow if the underlying institutions and positive theory are first assumed or at least accepted. (Author)
