A Matrix-Vector Formulation of the QD Digital Filter

Abstract

The report describes the development of an alternate formulation of the QD digital filter using matrix-vector notation and methods. The objectives of the report are to clarify the concepts on which the filter is based and to briefly indicate the structural similarity of the QD and Kalman filters as well as the difference between them. The technique for inserting into QD observed derivative data obtained independently of the normal input observations is briefly described.
