On the Interrelation of Divergence, Flutter and Auto-Parametric Resonance,

Abstract

The interrelation between divergence and flutter on one hand and autoparametric resonance on the other is investigated with the aid of an example. This is done by taking account of compressibility in a model of a cantilever under the action of a follower force. It is found that divergence and flutter emerge formally as special cases of instabilities which are known as subharmonic and combination resonances, respectively. (Author)
