R and D Data Processing: Methods and Analysis.
Abstract
A study was made to evaluate alternative methods of processing and preparing R+D program documents during the period of staff review. The command schedules are the principal documents considered during the review and formulation of the R and D program. It was concluded that the present reporting system is not amenable to efficient data processing by punched-card methods. The requirements for reports and summaries during the review period can be met more economically and in less time by manual methods. The present reporting system does not effectively integrate the data needs for analysis, evaluation, and control of the R+D program with the budgetary requirements. With the incorporation of additional data requirements for evaluation and control a punched-card or other machine process may be much more efficient. (Author)
