Electromagnetic Radiation Produced by High Energy Cosmic Rays.

Abstract

A fast night-sky Cerenkov detector has been used in a search for gamma-rays in the energy region 10 to the 12th power to p to the 13th power e.v. from nine pulsars. Observations were made at a site in Malta during the years 1969-71. Optical Cerenkov studies associated with both high frequency and low frequency radio emission from air showers are described. Measurements were made at the Zenith and at large Zenith angles. A small air shower array was constructed to study the lateral distribution of the U.H.F. radiation from showers. (Author)
