Marine Steam Boilers,

Abstract

The resistance of gas and air ducts depends greatly on their instructional design. Correct design of gas and air ducts leads to a considerable reduction in their total resistance, and therefore in the power and energy consumption of the fan drive. The air ducts on ships of old construction sometimes can be modernized by the installation of aerodynamically more suitable channels and transition sections. The resistance of the air ducts and the expenditure of energy in driving the draft fan can be lowered by 10 to 20%, achieving an appreciable economy and reducing the fuel consumption.
