Novel Cyanocarbon Derivatives.

Abstract

New polycyanovinyl, dicyanomethylenecarbene, and dicyanomethylene derivatives of metal carbonyls were obtained from cyanocarbon halides and metal carbonyl anions. Metal complexes with terminal dicyanomethylenecarbene ligands of the general type C5H5ML2(C=C(CN)2Cl were obtained by reactions of 1-chloro-2,2-dicyanovinyl derivatives of the type (NC)2C=C(Cl)M(CO)3C5H5 (M=Mo and W) with tertiary phosphines and related ligands. Some studies on metal complexes with C4(CN)6 ligands are described. Studies directed toward the syntheses of dicyanomethylenecarbene, tetracyanoallene, tetracyanocyclobutadiene, and 1-chloro-1,2,3,4,4-pentacyanobutadiene are summarized. (Author)
