Study of the Electrical Strength of Long Air Gaps,

Abstract

The author reports on long-wave air-gap strength studies. Fresh information is given on the laws governing the development of discharge processes for internal overvoltages associated with switch-off transients. Detailed analyses of the discharge-time components and of gap field nonuniformity are presented. Basic features of the volt-second characteristics of the rod-plane gap obtained with 10--8-/2000-microsecond waves are discussed. (Author)
