Nonmatching in Model Reference Adaptive Systems: Some Problems and Results.

Abstract

The problem of nonmatching in model reference adaptive control and identification has been considered in the report in order to provide an analysis and design procedure for a class of real systems when exact matching between model and plant is not possible. It has been shown that the same controller which has been used when perfect matching is possible can also be used in a nonmatching situation if a matrix P can be found which satisfies certain conditions depending on the range of the expected variations of the plant matrix. If such a matrix P is used to implement the adaptive controller, then the output error between the model and the plant will be bounded for any variations of the plant matrix over the range of values considered.
