Maximal Oxygen Intake as a Predictor of Performance in Running Events.

Abstract

The maximal oxygen intake of Marine Corps enlisted men was assessed by means of a treadmill test and predicted by means of a step test and a bicycle ergometer ride. The subjects then ran 1000 meters, 1.5 miles, and 3 miles. Correlations between the assessed maximal oxygen intakes and the predicted intakes were made. (Author)
