On the Possibilities of Readers with Optical Standards,

Abstract

The idea of creating a reading automation in which the images being recognized are compared optically with certain masks stencils, which represent various classes, has attracted the attention of designers for a long time. The most important advantages of such an automation are its exceptional simplicity and the absence of 'Discretization' of the images. The most essential difficulties of achieving such an automaton are the dependence of the results of recognition on the change in the contract of unknown images, lack of a procedure for sufficiently inertialess centering of the image being recognized with reference t the masks, and the impossibility of obtaining sufficient luminous flux in the automaton's photocollectors.
