Diffusion in a Cubic Metal Containing Interstitial Impurities.

Abstract

Theoretical expressions are derived for the atomic fluxes in a cubic interstitial impurity alloy system which includes the possibility of interstitial impurity atom-vacancy interactions. These results are used to obtain expressions for the self and interstitial impurity diffusion coefficients. The equations are extended further to obtain the bulk and interstitial Soret coefficients associated with atom movements in a temperature gradient. The theoretical results are compared with reported experimental data. (Author)
