Phased Array Focused in Near Field.

Abstract

The radiation patterns of a linear phased array which is focused in the near field are compared with far field patterns. The near field patterns were taken in a highly reflective environment to investigate this method of antenna checkout for use as performance monitoring checks for fielded arrays. By focusing in the near field this method permits good qualitative performance monitoring of far field patterns, gain, and beamwidth. (Author)
