Minimum Discrimination Information Estimation and Application

Abstract

The paper presents in some detail the application of the minimum discrimination information theorem to the analysis of multidimensional contingency tables. It is shown that the form of the minimum discrimination information estimate as a member of an exponential family provides a regression expression for the logarithm of the estimate. Computational procedures for the evaluation of the regression parameters and the minimum discrimination information estimates are described along with the tests for the hypotheses as provided by the minimum discrimination information statistics.
