On the Cross-Correlation Functions of Maximal Linear Recurring Sequences

Abstract

Maximal linear sequences have been studied extensively by numerous researchers. One well-known property of such sequences is their 'ideal' autocorrelation property. Until recently, however, little has been known about the cross-correlation function of two different maximal sequences of the same period. Reports of research on this question which have appeared in the last few years have dealt exclusively with the case of binary sequences. In the work described herein, emphasis is on the cross-correlation of maximal linear sequences over the integers modulo p, where p is an odd prime.
