Field Emission from Silicon.

Abstract

The authors have measured energy distributions of field emitted electrons from p-type silicon surfaces of various orientations and have shown that these electrons are predominantly emitted from surface states, the spectrum of which has the shape of a Gaussian distribution peaking near the top of the valence band.
