Effects of Soil Layering on the Use of VHF Radio Waves for Remote Terrain Analysis,

Abstract

The studies discussed in this paper were sponsored by U. S. Army Materiel Command and conducted by the U. S. Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station (WES) to investigate interaction of radio waves with the ground in order to determine the feasibility of using radio waves for remote analysis of soil conditions affecting trafficability.
